Casting breakdown
* Indicates that the character engages in stage combat but no prior experience is necessary
Medea* - late 30s /F/Global Majority Heritage - Medea was born a Princess and brought up during a brutal revolution that saw her family overthrown. She has a deep sense of justice and integrity and is proud of the life and family she has built in Britain. Medea is extremely sharp and intuitive, she refuses to accept less than what she is worth and will go to extreme lengths to protect the people she loves. Her ethnic and national background is deliberately kept ambiguous in the rehearsal script to allow this part of her role to be built around the actress portraying her.
Fee - £1078
Finley* 17/M/ Global Majority Heritage - The couple’s oldest child. Intelligent but insecure in his intelligence. He demonstrates incidents of remarkable courage and sensitivity. Finely is fiercely protective of Medea and Olivia even if he has perfected the art of winding his sister up. Fin does not respond well to his father’s overbearing nature and even at the play’s beginning appears to be distant from him. As with Medea, Finley’s ethnic and national background is kept ambiguous in the rehearsal script to allow this part of the role to be built around the actor portraying him.
Fee - £814
Olivia - 15/F/ Global Majority Heritage - The couple’s youngest child. Popular and young for her age, Olivia has a light hearted nature and a strong sense of self-assurance which manifests in confidence rather than cockiness. She is independent and uninhibited. As with Medea, Olivia’s ethnic and national background is kept ambiguous in the rehearsal script to allow this part of the role to be built around the actor portraying her.
Fee - £770
Stephen* / PM late 40s/M/Caucasian - The Prime Minister and Grace’s father. Stephen is detached, controlling and exploitative but he makes no attempt to hide this. He is dangerously ambitious and appears to revel in manipulation whether of the entire population, his cabinet or his own family. He has to be the smartest person in the room and he usually is. Stephen’s position at the top is unquestionable because no one else will go to the lengths he will to secure it.
Fee - £704
All our fees have been calculated on an hourly rate of £11 an hour, taking into account six performances and varying rehearsal commitments for each role. If rehearsal commitments increase, the fees will increase to reflect this. The fees will not be reduced if rehearsal commitments are reduced for any roles.
