The Trials of Robin Hood - Get Involved

Hello potential volunteers :)

After the sold out and critically acclaimed success of two runs of Apple of Discord, we have an opportunity to stage an even bigger immersive production at the National Justice Museum in January 2027. Inspired by British and Irish folklore, this show will centre around the trail of Robin Hood, examining themes such as the difference between truth and fiction and who gets to decide which is which.

This will be an immersive theatre production, similar in style to Punchdrunk, Phantom Peak, or other immersive experiences. It'll be set across the whole of the museum, all five floors, and with a number of narrative paths, theatrical set peices, and interactive quests for audiences. We are keen to make this experience as interactive as possible, and the endings will meaningfully change each night depending on the audience's behaviour and choices.

We are looking for expressions of interest from any performers and designers (actors, dancers, cabaret artists, circus performers, installation artists, VJs, etc) who would like to be part of the community company for the production. We will be devising the show along a pre-existing outline, but there is a lot of room for people to make characters and scenes their own.

We are also looking for entertainment for a cabaret area for each evening, so if you think you can help programme that with us then please get in touch too.

Also, if you have a short performance or piece of work inspired by Folklore from any part of the world, that you've been looking for a home for, this might the place for trying it out in front of different audiences. Get in touch to check, but we're very open to trying to make anything and everything fit, if we can.

This is a volunteer opportunity, with a profit share structure in place if any is generated. As a company, we are not making any money on the show either.

Immersive theatre in the UK is incredibly London-centric and we want to change that however we can. We think this project will continue our changing of that and, if you have always wanted to be a part of a large scale immersive production but have been unable to for whatever reason, maybe this might be the way to get involved? We are also very keen to tempt London-based immersive performers up to Nottingham to be involved in the show for weekend residencies (more detail for these below, see Second Way)

We work in a radically flexible way, so if you have any questions about getting involved concerning your availability or accessibility then please do ask :)

Ways to get involved:

First Way: I am free for all twelve performances (every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Jan 8th to Jan 31st) and want to be in the core story of the show

Second Way: I am free for one/several discrete weekend blocks (Friday-Sunday on any given week) and would like to be part of the show for that three day block of time. This might be a good option if you are travelling from outside of the East Midlands to take part in the show

Third Way: I am free sporadically and want to be able to be a part of the show on occasional performance dates when I happen to be available, but can't predict when that will be at the moment

Key dates:

Performances are every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in January from 8th - 31st

For clarity, this if January 8th, 9th, 10th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 29th, 30th, 31st

Friday and Saturday performances are 19:00 - 22:00

Sunday performances are 17:00 - 20:00

You'll be needed to help set up and break down the show an hour either side of this

We'll be doing some provisional writing for the show in September/October, finalising a script by mid-November, followed by rehearsals until the show goes live (with obvious holiday breaks throughout December/January)
