Insanity Point brings the Edinburgh Fringe to Nottingham for 2021

Updated: Jul 8, 2021

We are teaming up with Nottingham based arts organisation Fisher Gate Point to host a digital Edinburgh Festival Fringe venue for performers in the East Midlands.

Insanity Point will allow performers and theatre companies based in the East Midlands an opportunity to digitally take part in the world’s largest arts festival. Performing at the Edinburgh Fringe can be expensive and difficult to access for both artists and audiences alike, issues that Insanity Point will begin to remedy.

Not only will all performances be live streamed to a potentially international audience, but, with funding from the Edinburgh Fringe Society, we are able to offer the performance space completely free to all performers and companies. We’re so happy to be able to do this!

We will be providing a dedicated performance space, with a multi-camera streaming set up, for companies to use to broadcast their performances to an online audience via the Fisher Gate Point website. We will also supply a stream technician and will have a front of house member on hand to help with any queries while you’re at the venue.

Companies will be in charge of their own productions, marketing, and fringe registration fees, but we’ll register your show for you and be on hand to help guide you through the process if you’re unfamiliar with any aspect of it. Fees for 2021, set by the Edinburgh Fringe Society, are as follows:

Limited run (1 or 2 performances) - £72.00 (£60.00 excluding VAT)

Limited run (3 – 5 performances) - £153.00 (£127.50 excluding VAT)

Full run (6 or more performances) - £221.40 (£184.50 excluding VAT)

We will be hosting performances, Monday to Friday, 16th - 20th August, in 1h30 slots between 14:30 and 22:00. Each slot has been designed anticipating a 20 minute get in time, 60 minute performance time, and 10 minute get out, but the time can be used however the company decides depending on the length of your show and it’s setting up/breaking down time.

Daily slots would be at the following times:

14:30 - 16:00 (performance starting at 14:50)

16:00 - 17:30 (performance starting at 16:20)

17:30 - 19:00 (performance starting at 17:50) // this slot might no longer be available

19:00 - 20:30 (performance starting at 19:20) // this slot might no longer be available

20:30 - 22:00 (performance starting at 20:50)

Ideally, we’d like companies to commit to week-long runs (5 performances, Monday to Friday), but we can discuss shorter runs than this and try and fit them in if possible.

The assignment of slots will be considered on a rolling basis, so get in touch to start a conversation with us as soon as you can.

Please get in touch with us at insanitypointvenues@gmail.com if you have any other questions.
